Incident at Evonik Oil Additives site in Morrisburg, Ontario
At 12:30 A.M., on December 4, the Evonik Oil Additives site in Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada, experienced an explosion and fire that resulted in an injury to an operator at the site.
The employee was taken to the local hospital and later transported to a Toronto hospital for further treatment.
“Our company cares deeply about our people and their safety, and our first concern right now is with our employee and their family,” said Owen Caves, site manager at Evonik Morrisburg.
Safety is Evonik’s top priority and the company has been cooperating with authorities respecting the incident.
Evonik would like to thank the first responders for their care and professionalism in response to this incident.
The Evonik Oil Additives site in Morrisburg employs around 30 people and manufactures additives that improve the properties of lubricants such as engine oils.
